Monday flow #4
Are we ready for back-to-school yet?!
Hey folks,
Fun fact! August is considered the beginning of autumn in Ireland, as part of the Celtic calendar. But I for one, am switched off and on airplane mode (literally) this month and cannot seem to get my ass in gear to get my work done.
I’m surely not the only one?!
Hence why I’m writing and thus, sending this at the end of the work day on Monday. Sorry folks, it’s just one of those weeks. Period pending, need to do my taxes, and I have a bunch of admin emails to send that are sitting on my to-do list gathering dust at this stage.
I’m not going to beat around the bush this week, we’re diving straight into the next email in the 12 week series! Next up is The Curriculum edit, and this is absolutely perfect to send out around September when the last of the summer wine is drank, the kids are all lined up as the school bell rings, and we all feel like we could sleep for years after the summer chaos subsides.
🩸 Your Monday Flow
This week’s newsletter is the September Edit: Curriculum Email.
I was just having a conversation with some friends last night about how September always feels like a fresh start; don’t mind your 6 month check-in in June, it’s all about the summer pause and the September restart! We were saying how currently in August we are avoiding any and all responsibilities and will get back to the new notebooks and stationary in September.
Even if we haven’t stepped foot in a classroom for years, there’s something about this time of year that makes me want to learn something new, and get myself organised.
So we’re bringing that energy to our email list! Instead of sending random newsletters whenever inspiration strikes, imagine your readers opening their inbox knowing they’re about to receive the next lesson.
By the end, they’ve learned something useful, gained confidence, and naturally understand why your product, service or course is the next logical step.
If you’ve got a launch, workshop, membership or course coming up over the next few months (and autumn is a fab time for courses!), this is one of my favourite ways to warm people up without feeling like you’re constantly selling.
As always, anything in brackets is yours to customise. Read it out loud before you hit publish, and delete anything that sounds too polished or forced.

Lesson One starts today
Welcome to The Curriculum
Your first lesson has arrived
Class is in session
Hi (name),
September always feels like a fresh start. Your kids might be back to school, but that doesn’t mean you get to skip out on the learning too!
So instead of sending you another random newsletter this week, I thought we’d do something a little different.
Over the next (number of weeks), we’re going to explore (topic your audience wants to learn).
So this is your welcome to Lesson One.
Each email will build on the last, so by the end you’ll have a much clearer understanding of (the transformation).
And don’t wory, I won’t be pestering you with homework! But I will include prompts and ideas for you to take action on if you wish. :)
Today’s lesson: (Topic)
One of the biggest misconceptions about (your topic) is (common myth).
When in reality it goes like this...
(Teach your email list one simple concept relating to your industry. Keep it practical and achievable, and rather than overwhelming them, help them to understand one useful thing really well!)
This week’s challenge
Before next week’s lesson, I’d love you to try this:
(Give readers one tiny action. Maybe it’s answering one question, trying an exercise, observing a health habit, etc. The smaller and more attainable it is, the more likely they are to do it. And given it’s September, post-summer, people are more keen to build a habit in the lead up to Christmas!).
I can’t wait to build on (this email’s tip/action item) in the Lesson 2, which you can expect in your inbox in (X day/week).
I’ll see you next time in the classroom, don’t forget your packed lunch!
(Your sign off)
The thinking behind this email
People don’t just buy products, they buy a transformation. What can make them a better person?
That’s why this format works so well, because you’re giving them a taste of what working with you looks like.
Rather than trying to squeeze everything you know into one newsletter, you’re creating a journey. Each email answers one question while naturally creating curiosity for the next, meanign readers begin looking forward to your emails because they know there’s another lesson coming. :)
And if you’re planning to launch a course, workshop, membership, coaching programme or even a new service this autumn, you’ve already demonstrated your teaching style long before you ask anyone to buy! Win-win!!
By the time you open the doors, it doesn’t feel like you’re introducing yourself and starting from scratch. It feels like they’re simply enrolling for the next chapter in their transformation.
And that’s that for this week folks! I would love to hear if you’ve used any of these templates in your email newsletters, or if indeed you have any ideas for upcoming templates. I’m all ears!
See you again next week. I will be early next Monday morning, gah!
Have a fab week,
Maria
